Electronic Health Record Association Announces its 2026 Leadership Team and Priorities

CHICAGO – January 16, 2026 – The HIMSS Electronic Health Record (EHR) Association announced today the results of its annual leadership elections for terms that began Jan. 1, 2026. Leigh Burchell, Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs at Altera Digital Health, will continue as Chair, and Stephanie Jamison, Senior Director of Regulatory and Government Affairs at Greenway Health, continues as Vice Chair.

The EHR Association’s nearly 30 member companies serve most of the nation’s hospitals and ambulatory care organizations using EHRs and other health information and technology to deliver high-quality, efficient care to their patients. The Association’s guiding principles are established and governed by its Executive Committee, which also develops and implements strategic plans.

Newly elected to the Executive Committee is Steve Holt, JD, Vice President of Government Affairs for PointClickCare. In addition to Jamison, re-elected members are:

  • Ida Mantashi, Associate Vice President for Software Regulatory Compliance, Modernizing Medicine
  • Shari Medina, MD, Medical Director, Harris Computer/MEDHOST

Along with Burchell, continuing their two-year terms on the Executive Committee are:

  • Danielle Friend, Director of Integrations, Epic
  • Michelle Knighton, Regulatory Programs Director, NextGen Healthcare
  • Kayla Frederickson, Lead Regulatory Strategist, Oracle Health

Ex-officio Executive Committee members and past chairs include Cherie Holmes-Henry, Vice President of Government and Industry Affairs at Nextgen Healthcare; David Bucciferro, Senior Advisor with Foothold Technology/Radicle Health; Hans Buitendijk, Senior Director, Interoperability Strategy at Oracle Health; and Sasha TerMaat, Director at Epic.

In a year characterized by political change, the EHR Association dedicated much of 2025 to ensuring that the voices of EHR and health IT developers were heard, as well as those of the providers utilizing their solutions. This was particularly important as state and federal policymakers released final and proposed rules addressing such critical issues as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data standards, and consent management. The Association offered our expert insights on deregulation possibilities to ease the burden on health IT developers and healthcare providers related to information blocking compliance, ePrior Authorization efforts, and additional iterations of the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy’s (ASTP) Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability (HTI) rulemaking.

“It is a priority for us to ensure that state and federal policymakers alike have access to the technical and operational expertise needed to support innovative and safe health IT laws and regulations, so we will continue to engage on the critical issues fundamental to advancing a cohesive framework for safe, interoperable technology adoption in health care.”

“The Trump Administration’s continued efforts to both streamline regulation and reframe important programs to be more API-focused, such as the EHR Certification program managed by ASTP/ONC, mean that 2026 will be a pivotal year for health IT developers and the providers using their solutions,” says Burchell.

Adds Jamison: “As we move into 2026, our focus remains on advancing policies that promote health data interoperability, reduce burden, and enable responsible innovation. The EHR Association will continue to bring forward the collective expertise of our members so policymakers hear directly from those who understand how health IT functions in real-world care settings to ensure that regulatory decisions support—and don’t hinder—the future of health IT.”
